At least ten construction workers suffered minor injuries whilst working at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Chicago. The casino was closed at the time, whilst work was being undertaken in preparation for the opening of a new casino. At around 8 am (Tuesday) a ramp gave way causing at least ten of the workers to fall into Lake Michigan. They were taken to local hospitals following the accident, mostly suffering with cuts and bruises. A city inspector was on the scene assessing the damage.
And an unlucky blackjack table
A Massachusetts man wasn’t so lucky at the blackjack table recently, after his game was ended abruptly. The man who was playing blackjack at the Sun Sky Casino was arrested at the table by police. The 23 year old was wanted for murder. Local police arrested the man with the assistance of the Casino Unit State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service. Sgt. Jim Morin, executive officer of the Casino Unit, said that through investigative efforts police obtained information that the wanted man was at the blackjack table. He added that although the man was wanted for a crime of a serious nature, it was a routine arrest without incident.
And an unlucky casino worker
A roulette worker at Foxwoods casino showed himself to be a big loser when he bet his male colleagues that nine women who were gathered around his table couldn’t understand the gross comments he was making about them in Spanish. Un-known to the casino worker, the party of nine included an NYPD sergeant, FBI special agent and a Long Island cop. It also turned out that the party included a business woman who used to teach bilingual education and was able to understand every disgusting word. After complaining to the casino management, the women were invited into the high-rollers lounge, and given free drinks, two free rooms for one night at the Connecticut facility, with a free breakfast. They were told at least one worker had been fired. It was on the women’s second night at the casino when they were stunned to hear the two Hispanic employees spinning the roulette ball and handling chips making highly offensive remarks in Spanish. Some such comments allegedly said were “Great, we have a bunch of dumb broads that don’t know how to play”. And “That blonde in the corner believes her t-ts are going to get her places.” They also said one of the women was a ‘dyke.’ I have only quoted the tame stuff. I will not go into the other foul things that are alleged to have been said. The women are hoping for a giant payoff with another ‘spin of the wheel’ in a lawsuit which they are seeking $500,000 each. But the twist is, Foxwoods, which is owned by Pequot Indians, claims in legal papers it is immune to lawsuits in state court, and any legal actions must be filed in a tribal court.
