14-year old child gambled at casino
Harrah’s Chester Casino, Pennsylvania, was last week fined $20,000 for allowing a 14-year old girl into the casino. Once she had slipped inside unnoticed, she then gambled on the slot machines, and cashed in her winnings before being noticed by security. The age of consent for gambling is 21.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also fined the casino $10,000 for several incidents involving security personnel not being present in security zones within the facility. Earlier this year, the gaming board cited Philadelphia Park in Bucks County for three incidents of children getting onto the gaming floor with parents or grandparents. The 14-year old was also accompanied by an adult relative.
The Fat Man emerges the winner
A Syrian gambler who is a Billionaire, known among gambling circles as the ‘Fat Man’, has won his appeal to avoid paying a £2m debt to an exclusive casino.
During one night at Aspinalls casino, gambling on house cheques, the Man, Mr. Fouad Al Zayat a.k.a. the Fat Man, had built up massive losses totalling £2 million at the blackjack tables, as well as on roulette. But the 66 year old businessman with-held payment after having a row with a croupier.
His reasoning for not paying was that he had asked for a new croupier, but was told there were none to be had. But he found out later that there were workers available, and demanded to take back the cheques, valued at £2m, claiming he had been given an unfair game.
He later instructed his bank to stop the cheque, and claimed in court the cash was illegal credit under the Gaming Act. The claim was upheld by Mr. Justice Teare at the High Court, although his bid to get back £10m he had lost since then failed.
THE casino for commuters
Bored commuters were left somewhat astounded last week when a women passenger who had been sat quietly on her own, suddenly jumped up shouting ‘’I won, I won’’ on the middle of the tube. Waving her mobile phone frantically in the air, it eventually emerged that the woman had been playing at mFortunes Mobile Casino whilst travelling to work on the tube. She hit a progressive jackpot whilst playing one of the casino games, but as she was so excited, nobody on the tube got to find out how much she won, or what game she had been playing. It is only known for sure that she left the tube in an ecstatic mood!
