Officials of Cripple Creek, Denver Colorado say they won’t enforce the state-wide smoking ban at casinos that claim they are exempt. The City Council recently said that the legislature intended to ban smoking in casinos, but the law was poorly written and left the door open for casinos to claim they are cigar bars, which are not covered. Three of the town’s 17 casinos have claimed the exemption.
Navajo Nation, which extends into the states of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, has seen the beginning of construction for its first casino – a 27,000-square-foot building that will house 300 slot machines, table games, entertainment and a small cafe. The casino, in Church Rock, should be up and running at the end of October.
